🔟 Decimals Practice
Decimals are another way to write parts of a whole, and they show up in money, measuring and sports scores.
These topics start with tenths and hundredths and move on to adding, subtracting, multiplying and rounding decimals.
Topics, by the age they were designed for
- Age 9Fractions & decimalsTenths and hundredths
- Age 10Add & subtract decimalsTo hundredths
- Age 10Multiply decimalsBy whole numbers and 10, 100
- Age 10Powers of 10Move the decimal point
- Age 10Round decimalsTenths and hundredths
- Age 12Decimals with negativesAdd, subtract, multiply, divide
The age on each topic is the age it was designed for, based on typical US school math. Schools in other countries teach topics in a different order, so treat the age as a guide and start where your child is comfortable.
Helping at home
- Connect decimals to money: $0.25 is a quarter of a dollar.
- Line up the decimal points when adding and subtracting. Most mistakes come from lining up the wrong digits.
- Ask whether an answer makes sense. 3.4 x 2 should be a bit under 7.
How the practice works
Each practice round has 10 questions. Your child can type the answer or tap a choice, gets a second try, and sees the correct answer and a short hint when needed. Questions are generated fresh each time. It is free, with no sign-up and no ads, and progress and stars are saved on your device only.
Build your own course
On the Math Practice page, tap "Add to my course" on any topic from any age. Your picks are collected in one place, and a mixed round draws questions from only those topics.
