🕒 Telling Time and Counting Money Practice
Reading a clock and counting coins are everyday skills that children need long before the math gets formal.
These topics cover counting coins in cents, telling time to 5 minutes and then to the minute, saying times in words such as quarter past, and working out how much time has passed.
Topics, by the age they were designed for
- Age 6Pennies, nickels, dimesCount coins in cents
- Age 6Clock: hour and half hourO'clock and half past
- Age 7US coinsCount coins in cents
- Age 7Tell the timeRead a clock to 5 minutes
- Age 8Time passingMinutes between two times
- Age 8Clock to the minuteRead any time on a clock
- Age 8Quarter past & half pastSay the time in words
- Age 8What time will it be?Add minutes to a time
The age on each topic is the age it was designed for, based on typical US school math. Schools in other countries teach topics in a different order, so treat the age as a guide and start where your child is comfortable.
Helping at home
- Keep a real analog clock where your child can see it, and ask "what time will it be in 25 minutes?"
- Count a jar of real coins together. Start with one kind of coin, then mix them.
- Use the clock for everyday plans: when to leave, when dinner is, how long a show lasts.
How the practice works
Each practice round has 10 questions. Your child can type the answer or tap a choice, gets a second try, and sees the correct answer and a short hint when needed. Questions are generated fresh each time. It is free, with no sign-up and no ads, and progress and stars are saved on your device only.
Build your own course
On the Math Practice page, tap "Add to my course" on any topic from any age. Your picks are collected in one place, and a mixed round draws questions from only those topics.
